Event Definition This market resolves to “Yes” if, before December 31, 2025 at 11:59:59 PM UTC, there is a credible public announcement that TikTok (or its parent company ByteDance) has agreed to sell TikTok’s U.S. operations, global operations, or a significant stake/ownership portion to another entity. Otherwise, the market resolves to “No.” Criteria for Resolution A valid announcement must come from one of the following: TikTok or ByteDance official press release or corporate filing, The acquiring company’s official press release or corporate filing, At least two reputable global news outlets (e.g., Reuters, Bloomberg, Financial Times, Wall Street Journal, CNBC, New York Times) confirming the sale agreement. The announcement must clearly state that a sale agreement has been reached, not just that discussions, negotiations, or offers are ongoing. A government-mandated sale counts only if there is confirmation that a buyer has been agreed upon. What Does Not Count Rumors, leaks, speculation, or reports of negotiations without confirmation of a finalized sale agreement. Announcements of IPOs, spinoffs, restructurings, or partial asset sales that do not explicitly include TikTok ownership transfer. Sales of small minority stakes (<10%) that do not represent a meaningful change in ownership or control. Resolution Sources Official statements from TikTok, ByteDance, or the acquiring entity. Coverage from major financial and global media outlets (e.g., Bloomberg, Reuters, WSJ, CNBC, FT). If conflicting information arises, resolution will be based on the majority consensus of reputable sources. Ambiguities If a sale is announced but later canceled before year-end, the market still resolves “Yes” because the announcement itself occurred. If a sale is announced on December 31, 2025 but not completed, the market resolves “Yes” as long as the announcement was made before the deadline. If multiple announcements occur, the earliest credible announcement will be used for resolution. Final Resolution The market will be resolved within 72 hours after clear confirmation from reliable sources.
